Debate Format:

All the rounds of the debate will be oxford style and will comprise of formal debating with the following format specifics


League Rounds:

Opening proposition speaker : 4 minutes

Opening opposition speaker : 4 minutes

Refutation Round : 10 minutes

Concluding proposition speaker : 4 minutes

Concluding opposition speaker : 4 minutes


Quarter-Finals:

League Rounds and Quarter-Finals:


Each contestant is given 4 minutes for their opening and closing speeches. A warning bell will ring when 15 seconds remain, signaling that no new points can be introduced; however, the speaker may complete their current point and summarize. Two bells will sound at the 4-minute mark, indicating that time has elapsed, and contestants must conclude within the next 15 seconds. Speaking beyond 4 minutes and 15 seconds will not be permitted. For refutation rounds, 10 minutes is allotted in total.



Semi-Finals and Finals:


Each contestant is allotted 5 minutes for their opening and closing speeches. A warning bell will sound at 4 minutes and 45 seconds, after which no new points may be introduced; however, the speaker may complete their current point. Two bells will ring at the 5-minute mark, signaling the end of the allocated time, with contestants expected to conclude within the following 15 seconds. Speaking beyond 5 minutes and 15 seconds will not be permitted. The refutation rounds will have a time limit of 15 minutes for the semifinals and 20 minutes for the final.
